If I could, I would give 0 starts! We took my mother-in-laws vehicle to Mayfair the 3rd of July, to get fixed. The costs to buy a new gearbox was crazy, so we searched for a second-hand one. We found one, and took it to Mayfair. Mayfair put the new gearbox into the vehile, and said there is an issue with a plate on the gearbox, and it has to be programmed for the vehicle. This was done, but there still was an issue, so they said we had to find another plate. We found another one, but the issue still remained. Someone else who does programming on vehicles, asked us if we are sure the gearbox is for a diesel vehicle, as you get different ones for different fuel types, we did not know this and confirmed with the people where the gearbox was bought, and confirmed that the gearbox is for a petrol vehicle (the vehicle that needed to be fixed is a diesel). Thus the gearbox has to be removed and we had to look for another one. We decided to take the vehicle to someone else, as Mayfair never looked at the code on the gearbox to make sure it’s the correct gearbox for the vehicle, and nearly 2 months later, we are sitting with exactly the same issue… They just put the gearbox in, which obviously did not work, and made us buy an extra part for R12500, which was not the issue. 2 months later, when we decide to take the vehicle to someone who is capable to assist us – we first had to pay a bill of nearly R11000 just to get our vehicle released… Exactly in the same condition as when it was given to Mayfair to fix, 2 months ago!! So R11000 for Mayfair to take out a gearbox, and put another one in. NEVER EVER do business with Mayfair if you’re looking for someone capable of fixing your vehicle. And bonus, when we collected the vehicle, it was extremely dirty, so we basically paid R11000 for Mayfair to give us a dirty, still broken, car back.
